East Metro Symphony Orchestra is grateful to announce that the organization has again received an Arts Experience grant through the Minnesota State Arts Board, for our Symphonies for Seniors program. This grant will support programming running from May 2024 through April 2025.
Symphonies for Seniorsis a unique program that brings EMSO orchestra members to senior living facilities in the east metro to perform in small ensemble groups or full orchestra performances, offering residents of those facilities ready access to live orchestral music.
EMSO president James Slegers emphasizes the importance of this grant for the organization. “The Arts Experience grant is financially very helpful to the sustainability of this orchestra, offsetting some of the costs of our operations which coincide with the Symphonies for Seniors program. It also extends our reach into the community, helping us to establish connections with new audiences and giving our members opportunities to play new and interesting music.”
The orchestra would like to thank Concertmaster Aja Majkrzak, Music Director and Conductor Craig Hara, Communications Director and Grant Administrator Anna Salisbury, and the many amazing musicians who have made this program a success. We look forward to another great season of music in the community!
