A fresh, new season is here for EMSO members and audiences alike
East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) is excited to announce a brand new season of music, community, and growth! In addition to expanding the Board of Directors and number of Symphonies for Seniors concerts offered this season (see articles below), EMSO has seen significant growth all over the orchestra.
“We have been fortunate to have been experiencing growth in our ranks, specifically in the string section,” says EMSO Music Director and Conductor Craig Hara. “For a little perspective, we have always had a full and complete compliment of winds, brass, and percussion, appropriate for a string section more than twice the size of what we started with when I first joined the orchestra. The good news is that we have gradually been increasing those string numbers each year, and as of our first few rehearsals this season, we have added a larger number of new players than in previous seasons.”
This growth, says Hara, is a good sign for the orchestra. “I find this really encouraging, and it is hopefully an indication of the improving and increasingly positive reputation of the orchestra.”
Starting in October, EMSO will present four concerts in this year’s season. Italian Symphony will start the season on October 20th, and will feature Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4. December 8th will bring Jingle Bells Forever, a new performance of EMSO’s always popular holiday concert. On March 16th, Peter and the Wolf will featured a performance of Sergei Prokofiev’s symphonic tale as well as small group ensembles. The season will be rounded out by a full performance (last year was just a preview) of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony and soloist performances from the orchestra.
